Liposuction of Abdominal Flank

Liposuction of Abdominal Flank - Liposuction removes excess fat deposits in your abdominal flanks, commonly known as "love handles" and thus slims and reshapes your figure, enhancing your body contours and proportion and improving your self-image. Because the metal cannula required for liposuction is so small, your incisions may only be 2 to 5mm in length and can be easily hidden. Laser lipo is a type of liposuction and is a good technique but be sure to have laser lipo performed by a plastic surgeon. State laws allow non-plastic surgeons to use laser lipo in their office but that does not mean they were appropriately trained in a residency or fellowship program. They may have only taken a weekend course. Some of the perceived benefits of laser lipo is improved skin tightening but the results are inconclusive in regards to this claim. Laser lipo is a legitimate type of liposuction as long as it is performed by a plastic surgeon.

How should I prepare?
Refrain from taking aspirin, ibuprofen or certain herbal supplements, as these can increase the chance of bleeding. Be sure to disclose everything you are currently taking, regardless of how menial. Stop smoking and all other nicotine products several weeks prior to your procedure. Your surgeon will discuss the recovery with you as well.
What are the risks?
Immediately following your procedure, you may experience some bruising, swelling and temporary soreness. Some other risks include bagginess of the skin but if you are young, have good elasticity of your skin, your skin will tighten over a few months to reveal improved contours to your abdomen. Your doctor will discuss your quality of skin and chances for good recoil and tightening of skin after liposuction.
How do I ensure my safety?
Be sure you have this procedure performed by an appropriately trained plastic surgeon in an accredited facility. Also, ask to see photos of previous results.
