While it’s not for weight loss, liposuction is “the bomb” when it comes to aggressive body contouring! As you can see in this photo to the left, this thin patient was unhappy with his flanks (love handles) and liposuction gave him the results he wanted. Let me emphasize, liposuction is best when it’s a thin or slightly chubby patient that exercises but can’t get rid of some stubborn pockets of fat.
With minimal downtime and very small incisions (3mm in length) that can be easily hidden under underwear or swimming trunks or a bikini bottom, liposuction can remove up to 85% of the fat layer in one procedure. If you have a good bit of fat, liposuction is the way to go but maybe you’re not interested in surgery?
In that case, CoolSculpting is a great option too. CoolSculpting is totally non-surgical with no downtime. It only removes 25% of the fat layer, but as long as you have realistic expectations and understand it won’t give you the same result as liposuction, you’re probably a good candidate. Regardless of which technique you choose, the fat reduction is permanent. Consider this: when you take in fatty foods, your fat cells don’t multiply. They swell. And if you lose weight, the fat cells shrink but don’t decrease in number. Since you’re body doesn’t make new fat cells, the fat reduction is permanent whether it’s liposuction or CoolSculpting. Contrary to popular belief, the fat doesn’t go elsewhere and make your arms or legs fatter!
