Good work isn’t cheap, cheap work isn’t good!

As a developer of a price transparency platform, BuildMyBod, I recognize the importance of consumers knowing their healthcare costs before going to a consultation or before getting their medical bill. However, you shouldn’t base your entire decision on cost because good work ain’t cheap and cheap work ain’t good!

Sure you need to know whether a service or procedure is within your budget before committing to it, but cost is only part of the decision-making process. Online research on the procedures is a good first step. Followed by review sites and talking to friends who may have had prior experiences with a doctor. Eventually, you will arrive at the question of what the cost will be. Wouldn’t it be nice to know cost before going in and exposing your deepest insecurities with your plastic surgeon?

Of course price transparency is a necessity but don’t forget that you may mislead yourself if you focus only on cost. So don’t fall for the “good deal” or the deeply discounted cosmetic procedure on a billboard. More times than not, you’ll end up spending more because you’ll need a revision from another doctor…and doctors don’t give discounts to patients for revision procedures if their initial operation was with another doctor.
