Smile Line Fat Injections
Smile Line Fat Injections - In this procedure, you can take fat from other areas of the body, such as the tummy, and inject it into the smiles lines and other areas of the face to fill wrinkles and volumize and aging face. The benefit of this procedure is that it avoids synthetic material found in other fillers and instead uses your own tissue. Fat may last longer than other synthetic fillers as well. This procedure is often done during a facelift since you are already under anesthesia.

What should I expect?
Fat injections are often taken from the tummy and there may be pain associated from where the fat is taken rather than where it is injected. Often, this procedure is done while the patient is asleep and in combination with other facial procedures, such as a facelift. Keep in mind that some patients have bruising after this procedure but it can be covered by camouflage makeup.
How should I prepare?
If this is performed in combination with a facelift, you can follow the preparatory recommendations associated with a facelift including skin pre-treatment with Retin A and hydroquinone cream.
What are the risks?
Some side effects of this treatment include bruising, swelling, redness, pain, itching, discoloration and tenderness at the injection site. These subside after a few days after injection into the skin and within a week after an injection into the lips.
How do I ensure my safety?
Fat injections are typically very safe and there is no risk of an allergic reaction since it is your own tissue.
What will recovery be like?
While there is no downtime associated with fat injections alone, the downtime may be from the more invasive procedure done at the same time, such as a facelift.
